I am hoping to participate in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain (Lands’ End to John O’Groats) in early September. Until very recently the route was through Glencoe, but in recent years it has been altered to take in the Cairngorms. I still read a lot of comments online that Glencoe was many riders’ favourite day of their RAB. I wanted to ride it to see why people thought this.
Not far in to the ride the reasons were clear to see. Whilst I was yet to reach Glencoe itself, the views along the A82 to the Birdge of Orchy and the Loch Tulla viewpoint were excellent.
The weather was very cloudy today, but luckily the rain that was forecast never really materialised. I feel like some of the views of the mountains were compromised as a result; but even with their peaks obscured, I could appreciate the beauty of the area.
Before I knew it, I was riding through the Glencoe valley. Most of the pictures don’t particularly do the vistas any justice – they definitely look grander and more impressive through analog eyes.
From Glencoe, I cycled through Ballachulish to Corran. From here I would be catching a ferry to Ardgour.
